Increasing Diversity and Inclusion
in the City of Charlotte Open Streets Program
Tasked with identifying recommendations to increase diversity and inclusion in Open Streets 704. This consisted of a review of the findings included in the Open Streets 704 Program Audit prepared by 8-80 Cities; 2) direct observations and conversations with participants during the Open Streets 704 Strategic Planning Workshop held in Charlotte, NC; and leveraging professional experience and direct observations while attending, organizing and evaluating other open streets programs in the U.S. and abroad. Recommendations were developed through an assessment of five “P’s”: people, place, power, perspectives, and programming.
