Equitable Cities LLC is honored to announce its selection as one of the 13 partner organizations chosen to work on the Reconnecting Communities Institute (RCI). This initiative, awarded up to $27 million to the Cadmus Group by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), aims to restore and reconnect communities that have been harmed by past transportation choices.

The RCI serves as DOT’s center for learning and capacity-building, providing tailored assistance to communities to plan and execute reconnection projects. These projects focus on improving access to jobs, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, in alignment with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods (RCN) Program.

Equitable Cities will collaborate with Cadmus Group and the diverse team of partners, including national nonprofits and disadvantaged business enterprises, to offer training, technical assistance, and innovative strategies for reconnecting communities. Together, the team will support states, local and tribal governments, metropolitan planning organizations, and nonprofit organizations in creating successful projects that improve quality of life and connect residents to vital resources.

The RCI is set to launch later this year.
